These terms are an agreement between you and Mirza Aneeb Baig, an independent developer in Karachi, Pakistan, who makes Laterals (“Laterals”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use Laterals.

1. What Laterals is

Laterals is a tool to log workouts, plan meals, track body weight and talk to an AI coach about training and food. It helps you organise your own effort. It does not do the work for you, and it can’t promise any result.

2. Not medical advice

Laterals, including the AI coach, gives general fitness and nutrition information. It is not medical, dietary or psychological advice, and it is not a doctor, dietitian, physiotherapist or personal trainer who knows your full situation.

• Talk to a doctor before you start a new exercise or diet plan, and especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition or injury, take medication, have (or had) an eating disorder, or are unsure whether exercise is safe for you.
• Stop exercising and get medical help if you feel pain, dizziness, shortness of breath or anything that worries you.
• Calorie and protein targets are estimates from standard formulas. Your real needs can differ.
• If you are in crisis or thinking of harming yourself, contact local emergency services now. Laterals can’t help in an emergency.

3. Your results are yours

Progress comes from your own work: training, eating, sleeping and keeping at it, week after week. Any projection in the app (for example “−2 kg by 6 Dec”) is an estimate from the numbers you entered, not a promise. Bodies vary; real weeks go up and down. We don’t guarantee weight loss, muscle gain, strength gain or any other outcome.

4. The AI coach can be wrong

The coach’s replies are written by AI models from other companies (see the Privacy Policy). AI can be wrong, out of date or unsuitable for you, even when it sounds confident. You decide what to do with its suggestions:

• The coach only knows what you tell it. If you skip the questions or leave answers out (for example an injury, an allergy or a food you avoid), its advice is general and may not suit you.
• Check anything important, and use your own judgment.
• Plans and recipes the coach proposes are only saved when you tap Save; look them over first.
• Don’t follow a suggestion that conflicts with your doctor’s advice, your allergies, your religious or dietary rules, or how your body feels.

5. Training and food are at your own risk

Exercise and diet changes carry a risk of injury, illness and, rarely, worse. Use correct form, start light, use safe equipment and a spotter when it’s needed, and check ingredients for allergies. You take part at your own risk, to the extent the law allows.

6. Who can use Laterals

You must be 16 or older. By using Laterals you confirm you are. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm a parent or guardian has read and agreed to these terms with you.

7. Your account

You sign in with Google. Keep your Google account secure; you’re responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it. You can delete your account any time in Me → Danger zone → Delete account.

8. Laterals Pro, trials and refunds

• Plans: Laterals Pro is a subscription, monthly or yearly, sold and billed by Google Play. Prices are shown in the app in your currency before you buy. Google Play’s terms also apply to your purchase.
• Free trial: new subscribers get 14 days free on either plan, once per Google account. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, Google Play charges you on day 15 and then every month or year until you cancel.
• Cancelling: cancel any time in the Play Store (Payments & subscriptions). You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for; you won’t be charged again. Deleting your account or the app does not cancel the subscription.
• Refunds:
  • Yearly plan: ask within 30 days of a charge and we’ll refund that charge in full, no questions asked. After 30 days the year isn’t refunded, and Pro runs until the year ends.
  • Monthly plan: monthly charges aren’t refunded, except where the law requires it.
  • Google may also refund requests made directly to Google Play within its own windows.
  • These terms never take away a refund right your local law gives you.
  • To ask, email support@laterals.app with the email of your account.
• Price changes: if we change a price, Google Play tells you before it applies, and you can cancel before it does.
• What Pro includes is listed on the paywall. We may improve or change features over time; we won’t take away a feature you’ve paid for during a paid period without a pro-rata refund.

9. Fair use

Don’t:

• break the law, or use Laterals to harm anyone;
• try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or get around the app’s limits or security, or access other people’s data;
• use the coach to produce content that is illegal, hateful, sexual, violent, or unrelated abuse of the service, or try to make it ignore its safety rules;
• resell, scrape or automate access to Laterals;
• upload content you don’t have the right to share.

We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we’ll tell you why unless the law or safety stops us. If we close your account for no fault of yours while you have a paid period left, we’ll refund the unused part.

10. Your content

Your workouts, recipes, notes and messages stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to run Laterals for you (as the Privacy Policy explains), including sending coach messages to our AI providers. We don’t sell your data and don’t use it for advertising. You can export your data (Me → Export my data) and delete everything any time.

11. Our content

The app, its design, code, text and branding belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only to use Laterals for yourself. Exercise images come from a public exercise library and keep their own licences.

12. Availability and changes

We work to keep Laterals running, but it’s provided as is and as available. It may sometimes be down, slow or have bugs, and features may change. We may stop offering Laterals; if we do, we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice in the app where we can, let you export your workouts, and refund any unused paid period.

13. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

• We give no promises beyond those in these terms, including no promise that Laterals will meet your goals or be error-free.
• We aren’t liable for injury, illness, loss of data, loss of profits or any indirect or consequential loss from using (or not being able to use) Laterals, its information or the AI coach.
• Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Laterals in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50 if you paid nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

14. Indemnity

If you break these terms or the law while using Laterals and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using Laterals after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, delete your account and cancel any subscription (with a refund of any unused paid period if the change is to your disadvantage).

16. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan. Please contact us first; most problems are solved by email. If we can’t solve it, the courts of Karachi, Pakistan have jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protection of your local consumer law and can bring a claim in your local courts where that law allows.

17. The rest

• If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
• If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
• You can’t transfer these terms to someone else; we may transfer them to whoever takes over Laterals, and your rights stay the same.
• These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Laterals.
